should I get a MineCraft Account?

so today in school, in computer class, we had a "game day" where we can just play computer games the whole time. Two people sitting next to me were playing minecraft, and I really wanted to make my own account, but you have to pay for an account, and my mom won't let me. I've begged and begged her but she keeps saying no. I spent the whole computer class looking for free minecraft account giveaways, but sadly I found none. I would like to know-Is minecraft worth the money?
